NOTES FROM THE EDITOR

It's all fun and games until...

...You meet your AI twin and "her" name is Ella.

It happened on Tuesday.

I casually scrolled my LinkedIn feed and suddenly I sew an ad that looked like this:

Stunned, I looked at the copy closely and saw that it's an AI marketing manager that performs various tasks for social media management.

And she's not alone, there are others on her team.

In the comment section I found like-minded people who collectively said "ew" and blamed the company for being tone deaf.

And although I found the snarky comments somewhat comforting, I kept thinking that it's just the beginning.

What does it mean for us humans competing with AI employees, consultants, and providers who don't need coffee breaks?

Admittedly, I use AI tools daily. And I even wrote about them often in this newsletter.

But this ad is on a whole new level, it's an AI employee with a personality.

Competing with someone who doesn't need breaks (or never ages for that matter) is impossible. But should we even try?

A few weeks ago I argued that we shouldn't compete with AI, leaning in to our humanity instead. Today, I'm doubling down on this argument.

Alexander Pope famously wrote "To err is human". In other words, our imperfections matter. Having the need for coffee breaks is an actual strength.

Experiencing pleasure, anger, and real connection with other people is what we need to more than ever. In marketing too.

I'll leave the social media management tasks to "Ella". Instead, I'll keep on putting my messy thoughts in this newsletter and spending time connecting with therapists through my community and live events.

Your human marketer,

Avivit

FINAL THOUGHTS

This week I intentionally spent a few hours reconnecting with people.

I feel that networking is more important than ever right now.

After all, people like to do business with those whom they know, like, and trust. And building real trust requires human connection.

See you next week,

Avivit
