Consistency Trumps Skill

Three years ago I committed to writing this weekly newsletter.

In the beginning, I wanted to make it so good that I drowned my subscribers in value. In fact, one person replied that reading it felt like "drinking from a firehose".

The feedback stung but it also gave me an insight to making it better. Which, I hopefully did.

During this time, I probably missed 4 weeks in total despite wanting to quit many times. It truly became an exercise in stubbornness consistency.

And while writing is a skill, you're not reading this because I'm a prolific writer. You're reading this because I show up in your inbox every Friday at 1:30 pm EST. Talking about marketing.

So now... Before you decide that you've had enough and hit unsubscribe, let me share this with you.

Not promoting your practice has nothing to do with the level of your marketing skills. It's simply a matter of consistency. If, for example, you decided tomorrow that all you do is post on LinkedIn for the next month, you'll see results.

Obviously, your posts need to make sense for your audience of referral partners and potential clients. But besides that, you don't need to master more than setting aside 20 minutes a day for posting and commenting.

Just commit to doing it for a certain number of months. That's all. Consistency beats skill every time.

And now to the news!

BUSINESS AND PRIVATE PRACTICE

Can AI replace therapists?

Here's an uncomfortable topic for you. Can you be replaced by AI?

I think not and I share my thoughts in this article. I also explore how to stand out in the market with growing AI therapy platforms and companies with big budgets in this video.

Medicaid Cuts Could Hit Behavioral Health Hard

Post-pandemic funding changes may bring reduced Medicaid support.

Providers are urged to brace for shifts that could affect reimbursement and patient access.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The main reason therapists give up on marketing is because it feels like another chore.

It can be tedious and discouraging, when you don't see immediate results. Keep showing up anyway.

Because what is the alternative? Giving up your practice? Being overworked and underpaid?

And if you want to get in the groove and go beyond posting on LinkedIn, join my free training next week.

I'll help you make sense of it all.

See you next week,
